A look at the production route used for our flooring orders, from incoming timber through machining, finishing, inspection and packing. Photography is from our own factory wherever available.
Oak lumber & core stock
Face-layer oak is sorted by grain and color before production. Core material is selected to suit the specified construction, and incoming material is recorded by species, grade and origin.
Moisture control from day one
Lumber is kiln-dried and checked against the moisture target for the order. Moisture control at this stage is fundamental to dimensional stability after machining and installation.
Wear layer cut to spec
The wear layer is cut to the specified thickness. Common options include 1/16" (2 mm), 1/8" (3 mm), 5/32" (4 mm) and 1/4" (6 mm), with thickness checked across the board before pressing.
Face · core · balance
Adhesive is applied before the face, core and backing layers are pressed together. Process settings are controlled to support consistent bonding and a balanced panel.
Rest before machining
Pressed blanks are conditioned before machining so the panel can settle after bonding.
Calibrated to tolerance
Blanks are sized, calibrated and sanded to the specified thickness, width and length, then checked against the order sheet.
Texture built into the wood
Surface treatments such as smooth, wire-brushed, hand-scraped, distressed or saw-marked are worked into the wood before finishing and matched to the approved sample.
Tongue and groove, four sides
Tongue & Groove profiles are machined on all four sides, with micro-bevel added where specified. The profile is intended for glue-down or nail-down installation.
Stain and UV coating
Color and the specified UV finish are applied after machining, with each coat cured in line. Unfinished boards can also be supplied for site finishing.
Checked before it's packed
Moisture, dimensions, T&G fit, color consistency and finish quality are checked through the run and again before packing.
Cartons, pallets, traceable
Boards are packed into cartons, palletized and wrapped. Carton labels identify the SKU and production lot for traceability.
